My grandad was walking over the bridge at the end of his street one day and he spotted a man standing looking over the railings and the railway track below. As my grandad approached, the man turned to stare at him and my grandad nodded a polite greeting and walked by. When he was several steps away, he heard footsteps behind him like the man had started to follow him and thought nothing of it, but when the pace started to pick up and the man broke into a run, my grandad balled his fist and made ready to swing at him.
When he was sure the man was just about to get him, he threw his fist around -- and immediately fell flat on his arse. There was no one there.
